The Devil’s Valley – in the footsteps of Mr. Turner

Apparently favorite haunt of Charles Darwin and WilliamTurner, the Dysynni Valley is stunningly beautiful, even in the rain! From Tywyn beach with its ancient petrified forest and 6,000 year old ancient peat beds to the Devil’s Valley and the legend of the Devil’s Stone (featured image).

Ancient shepherd inscriptions on the revered Devil’s Rock in Devil’s Valley. Legend has it that villagers used to skip church to dance and make merry on the stones. One Easter Sunday the devil appeared dressed as an ass and scared them back to church. Dysynni Valley. Snowdonia National Park. Wales.
